Outpatient DBT & Support Groups

Outpatient DBT

Patients, who have either been on The Day Clinic’s intensive day hospital programme or have a good DBT understanding and skill set, are then able to join our Outpatient DBT programme. Our Outpatient DBT module programme is a 6 session course and in a closed group with limited places.

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) offers skills training for understanding and addressing difficulties associated with mood swings, emotion regulation, impulsive behaviour, interpersonal difficulties and chronic low self-esteem. The focus is on facing and tackling issues as an alternative to avoidant or destructive behavioural patterns.

Support Group

Our Support Group offers an ongoing application of DBT principles and techniques to every day living after being at The Day Clinic on the Intensive programme or after an Outpatient DBT course.  Meetings are held weekly at The Day Clinic.

There is a focus on getting to know more about your feelings, and creating alternatives to the actions that can make life feel worse. There can be such relief in understanding something about what might go on inside you, and how doing things differently can help. However, it can be very difficult to keep some of these new ideas in mind when you are faced with challenging situations in your day-to-day life after the programme or Outpatient DBT course has finished.
