Outpatient DBT & Support Groups
Patients, who have either been on our 5 day intensive day hospital programme or have a good DBT understanding and skill set, are then able to join our Outpatient DBT programme. Our Outpatient DBT module programme is a 6 session course and in a closed group with limited places.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) offers skills training for understanding and addressing difficulties associated with mood swings, emotion regulation, impulsive behaviour, interpersonal difficulties and chronic low self-esteem. The focus is on facing and tackling issues as an alternative to avoidant or destructive behavioural patterns.

Our Support Group offers an ongoing application of DBT principles and techniques to every day living after being at the Clinic on the Intensive 5 day programme or after an Outpatient DBT course. Meetings are held at Oxford Healthcare Centre at 17h00 to 18h30 every other Wednesday.
There is a focus on getting to know more about your feelings, and creating alternatives to the actions that can make life feel worse. There can be such relief in understanding something about what might go on inside you, and how doing things differently can help. However, it can be very difficult to keep some of these new ideas in mind when you are faced with challenging situations in your day-to-day life after the programme or Outpatient DBT course has finished.

How to receive treatment
All patients need to be referred to our services or have attended the 5 day programme.
We will contact you within 48 hours to book a one-hour assessment interview.
Upfront payment for this assessment will be necessary. You will be given an invoice to submit to your medical aid for partial re-imbursement.
On accepting your place, you will be asked to secure it by paying upfront for all 6 sessions. After every session, an invoice for that session will be generated and sent to you for submission to your Medical Aid.
Please note: The Day Clinic is contracted out of medical aid. Payment for clinical services are required to be settled by yourself. All patients will receive an invoice on payment which can then be claimed from your medical aid.
